Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2020 Christies in London held the auction 300 Years Of British Drawings, which included the work Three Chinese studies: Two men panning in a river; A man carried in a sedan chair; and Crushing rice by William Alexander. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,378.17). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Alexander - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Walls enclosing a city or town called Pou-een-gin, November 3rd 1793, which sold at auction in November 2019 for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,081.47).
