Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2019 Christies in London held the auction China Trade Paintings: Selections from the Kelton Collection, which included the work Chow-Ta-Zhin in his dress of ceremony by William Alexander. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,109.86), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Alexander have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Walls enclosing a city or town called Pou-een-gin, November 3rd 1793 in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,081.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion China Trade Paintings: Selections from the Kelton Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Chow-Ta-Zhin in his dress of ceremony von William Alexander zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.109,86) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Alexander auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Walls enclosing a city or town called Pou-een-gin, November 3rd 1793 im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 19.081,47).
