However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Willem van Aelst - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge, which sold at auction in January 2021 for USD 1,230,000.00 (€ 1,013,597.03).

Die Arbeit Roses, irises, poppies and other flowers in a glass vase, on a marble ledge with a tortoiseshell butterfly and insects von Willem van Aelst kam im Januar 2005 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 385.600,00 (€ 295.501,57) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 54%. Für andere Arbeiten von Willem van Aelst mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge beobachtet, die im Januar 2021 für USD 1.230.000,00 (€ 1.013.597,03) versteigert wurde.
