Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Peaches and grapes on a marble ledge by Willem van Aelst was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings auction at Christies in New York in January 2001. Here, the upper estimate of USD 35,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 35,250.00 (€ 37,870.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van Aelst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,230,000.00 (€ 1,013,597.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Peaches and grapes on a marble ledge von Willem van Aelst wurde im Januar 2001 in der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 35.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 35.250,00 (€ 37.870,65) einen neuen Besitzer.
