Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Willem van Aelst achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2000. In the IMPORTANT OLD MASTER PICTURES auction, the work Grapes, a pocketwatch, a roemer, a silver ewer and a plate, on a partly draped marble ledge, the artist at work at his easel reflected in the roemer sold for GBP 157,750.00 (€ 251,294.34) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 70,000.00. Admittedly, works by Willem van Aelst have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,230,000.00 (€ 1,013,597.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Willem van Aelst erzielte im Dezember 2000 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion IMPORTANT OLD MASTER PICTURES wurde die Arbeit Grapes, a pocketwatch, a roemer, a silver ewer and a plate, on a partly draped marble ledge, the artist at work at his easel reflected in the roemer für GBP 157.750,00 (€ 251.294,34) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 70.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willem van Aelst auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge im Januar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.230.000,00 (€ 1.013.597,03).
