The work A chameleon with a dragonfly on a thistle, in a landscape by Willem van Aelst was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Christies in New York in October 2001. The »bidding war« ended at USD 47,000.00 (€ 52,262.87), 57% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem van Aelst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,230,000.00 (€ 1,013,597.03).

Die Arbeit A chameleon with a dragonfly on a thistle, in a landscape von Willem van Aelst wurde im Oktober 2001 in der Auktion Old Master Paintings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Still life with grapes in a basket, peaches on a silver dish, medlars, two butterflies, a fly and a snail, all on a red velvet cloth over a partially draped ledge im Januar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.230.000,00 (€ 1.013.597,03).
