In May last year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings, which included the work Abstract Landscape by Wesley Tongson. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 94,500.00 (€ 11,219.18), 35% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wesley Tongson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Green Mountains, which sold at auction in November 2021 for HKD 212,500.00 (€ 23,627.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Abstract Landscape von Wesley Tongson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 94.500,00 (€ 11.219,18) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Wesley Tongson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Green Mountains beobachtet, die im November 2021 für HKD 212.500,00 (€ 23.627,85) versteigert wurde.
