In April 2014 Christies in Shanghai held the auction Asian and Western 20th Century and Contemporary Art, which included the work Sleepless City by Wei Jia. The »bidding war« ended at CNY 1,206,000.00 (€ 139,120.40), 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Wei Jia have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nowhere to Escape IV in April this year with an auction result of HKD 720,000.00 (€ 735,260.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im April 2014 führte Christies in Shanghai die Auktion Asian and Western 20th Century and Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sleepless City von Wei Jia zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von CNY 1.206.000,00 (€ 139.120,40) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wei Jia auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nowhere to Escape IV im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 720.000,00 (€ 735.260,87).
