Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Five Character Couplet In Regular Script by Wang Shu was sold in the Classical Chinese Painting and Calligraphy auction at China Guardian in Hong Kong in May 2017. The price achieved of HKD 35,400.00 (€ 4,042.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Shu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Superfluous Words On Calligraphy in September 2012 with an auction result of USD 134,500.00 (€ 104,620.41).

Die Arbeit Five Character Couplet In Regular Script von Wang Shu wurde im Mai 2017 in der Auktion Classical Chinese Painting and Calligraphy bei China Guardian in Hong Kong versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 35.400,00 (€ 4.042,20) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Shu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Superfluous Words On Calligraphy im September 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 134.500,00 (€ 104.620,41).
