Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy, which included the work Calligraphy Couplet In Regular Script by Wang Shu. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,135.64) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Shu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Superfluous Words On Calligraphy in September 2012 with an auction result of USD 134,500.00 (€ 104,620.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Regular Script von Wang Shu zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.500,00 (€ 3.135,64) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Shu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Superfluous Words On Calligraphy im September 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 134.500,00 (€ 104.620,41).
