A top price for Wang Shu
This artwork by Wang Shu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in September 2012. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction, the work Superfluous Words On Calligraphy sold for USD 134,500.00 (€ 104,620.41) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. This high result makes Superfluous Words On Calligraphy the most expensive artwork by Wang Shu that we have observed at auctions so far.
