Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Weather Forecast by Wang Du was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in December 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 48,750.00. Admittedly, works by Wang Du have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work No Comment in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 264,000.00 (€ 197,397.94).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Weather Forecast von Wang Du im Dezember 2008 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 48.750,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wang Du auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit No Comment im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 264.000,00 (€ 197.397,94).
