Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Us Market by Wang Du was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 40,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 125,000.00 (€ 14,719.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Du achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work No Comment in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 264,000.00 (€ 197,397.94).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Us Market von Wang Du im April 2020 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 40.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 125.000,00 (€ 14.719,31) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Du erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit No Comment im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 264.000,00 (€ 197.397,94).
