WALTER DEXEL (1890-1973) Mappe 2 - Köpfe: 6 Seriegraphien 1930-1933 the complete set of six screenprints, 1968, on wove paper, each signed and inscribed with the plate numbers in pencil, with title, justification, text in German by the publisher, and table of contents (all on the inside folder), copy number I (one of twenty hors commerce -copies numbered in Roman numerals, aside from the regular edition of one hundred), signed and dedicated, initialled and dated 21.4.68 in ink on the justification, published by Editions Panderma Carl Laszlo, Basel, 1968, within the original grey paper folder with a printed design, the name of the artist, title and publisher on the front Overall 592 x 435 mm.
Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Walter Dexel could be acquired at Christies in London in September last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work Mappe 2 - Köpfe: 6 Seriegraphien 1930-1933 changed hands for GBP 3,276.00 (€ 3,728.40) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Dexel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Segelschiff I in February 2020 with an auction result of GBP 671,250.00 (€ 777,980.27).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Walter Dexel konnte im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Prints and Multiples wechselte die Arbeit Mappe 2 - Köpfe: 6 Seriegraphien 1930-1933 für GBP 3.276,00 (€ 3.728,40) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Dexel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Segelschiff I im Februar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 671.250,00 (€ 777.980,27).
