Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Let'S Be Honest, The Weather Helped (Saudi Arabia, China, United States, Switzerland, Nato, United Kingdom, Israel) by Walid Raad was worth GBP 68,750.00 (€ 77,528.79) to a buyer in October 2018. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Walid Raad; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Scratching On Things I Could Disavow (Parts 2-5) sold at auction in April 2015 with the realized price of USD 87,500.00 (€ 78,390.97).
