It achieved a price of GBP 780.00 (€ 1,142.02), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 30%. Admittedly, works by William Cheesman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A French bulldog, Millicent (The Duchess of Sutherland's first pet dog in the 1890s) in April 2021 with an auction result of GBP 5,737.50 (€ 6,599.79).

Die Arbeit A river through the valley; The castle gates; and The path down to the shore von William Cheesman wurde im April 2007 in der Auktion British, Continental & Russian Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 780,00 (€ 1.142,02) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 30%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Cheesman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A French bulldog, Millicent (The Duchess of Sutherland's first pet dog in the 1890s) im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.737,50 (€ 6.599,79).
