Iscritto al retro della montatura "Dono del pittore Vittorio Corcos alla grande attrice Eleonora Duse".
Dipinto probabilmente su pergamena e chiuso sul retro da un cartoncino. Le venature della superficie farebbe supporre altro materiale tipo osso o avorio ma sembrerebbe troppo sottile. Difficile capire il materiale usato in quanto incollato al supporto in cartone.

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2012 Christies in Milan held the auction Dipinti Antichi, which included the work Ritratto di Eleonora Duse by Vittorio Matteo Corcos. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 6,240.00 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vittorio Matteo Corcos achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alla fontana (Le due colombe) in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 687,500.00 (€ 590,280.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2012 führte Christies in Mailand die Auktion Dipinti Antichi durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ritratto di Eleonora Duse von Vittorio Matteo Corcos zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 6.240,00 und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vittorio Matteo Corcos erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Alla fontana (Le due colombe) im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 687.500,00 (€ 590.280,76).
