In March 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Contemporary Edition, which included the work Spider Web by Vija Celmins. The result of USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,869.51) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vija Celmins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Ocean) in June 2021 with an auction result of USD 7,748,000.00 (€ 6,539,500.34).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im März 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Contemporary Edition durch, in der auch die Arbeit Spider Web von Vija Celmins zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 2.000,00 (€ 1.869,51) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vija Celmins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Ocean) im Juni 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.748.000,00 (€ 6.539.500,34).
