This artwork by Vija Celmins achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in June this year. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work Saturn Stamps (R. 28) sold for USD 5,334.00 (€ 4,884.62) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vija Celmins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Ocean) in June 2021 with an auction result of USD 7,748,000.00 (€ 6,539,500.34).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Vija Celmins erzielte im Juni diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper wurde die Arbeit Saturn Stamps (R. 28) für USD 5.334,00 (€ 4.884,62) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vija Celmins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Ocean) im Juni 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.748.000,00 (€ 6.539.500,34).
