Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2019 Christies in London held the auction Important Russian Art, which included the work Two Chinese horsemen on the steppe by Vasily Vereshchagin. The price achieved of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 73,390.28) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vasily Vereshchagin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Taj Mahal, Evening in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 2,281,250.00 (€ 2,523,779.09).
