Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2017 Christies in London held the auction Important Russian Art, which included the work Kitchen of the Monks in the Grotto by Vasily Vereshchagin. It changed hands for a price of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,479.89) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vasily Vereshchagin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Taj Mahal, Evening in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 2,281,250.00 (€ 2,523,779.09).
