Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Russian Pictures, which included the work One Of The Old Jewish Tombs Near Jerusalem by Vasily Vereshchagin. The price achieved of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 22,506.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vasily Vereshchagin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Taj Mahal, Evening in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 2,281,250.00 (€ 2,523,779.09).
