Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction Important Russian Art, which included the work Transportation Of The Wounded by Vasily Vereshchagin. The price achieved of GBP 937,250.00 (€ 1,154,596.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vasily Vereshchagin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Taj Mahal, Evening, which sold at auction in June 2011 for GBP 2,281,250.00 (€ 2,523,779.09).
