This artwork by Uzo Egonu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March last year. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction auction, the work Stateless People (E) sold for GBP 40,320.00 (€ 47,803.90) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Uzo Egonu; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Nigerian Woman Reading sold at auction in April 2019 with the realized price of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 50,893.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Uzo Egonu erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction wurde die Arbeit Stateless People (E) für GBP 40.320,00 (€ 47.803,90) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Uzo Egonu; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Nigerian Woman Reading im April 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 50.893,89).
