Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Star Mad Astrologer by Uzo Egonu was worth GBP 21,420.00 (€ 23,785.08) to a buyer in October 2020. This price was achieved in the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Uzo Egonu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nigerian Woman Reading, which sold at auction in April 2019 for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 50,893.89).
