Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Nude Woman Combing Her Hair by Uzo Egonu was worth GBP 30,240.00 (€ 35,826.23) to a buyer in October 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Modern and Contemporary African Art at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 9,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Uzo Egonu; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Nigerian Woman Reading sold at auction in April 2019 with the realized price of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 50,893.89).
