Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March last year Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction, which included the work Women Gathering by Uzo Egonu. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 17,640.00 (€ 20,914.21), 18% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Uzo Egonu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nigerian Woman Reading, which sold at auction in April 2019 for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 50,893.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Women Gathering von Uzo Egonu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 17.640,00 (€ 20.914,21) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Uzo Egonu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nigerian Woman Reading beobachtet, die im April 2019 für GBP 43.750,00 (€ 50.893,89) versteigert wurde.
