Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Unknown by Utagawa Yoshitora was worth EUR 3,250.00 to a buyer in May 2008. This price was achieved in the auction Asian Art at Christies in Amsterdam and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 1,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Utagawa Yoshitora; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Igirisukoku (England) sold at auction in March 2003 with the realized price of USD 5,019.00 (€ 4,604.59).

Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Asian Art bei Christies in Amsterdam erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 1.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Utagawa Yoshitora; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Igirisukoku (England) im März 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 5.019,00 (€ 4.604,59).
