Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1844 by Utagawa Kuniyoshi was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Bonhams in New York in March last year. The price achieved of USD 2,550.00 (€ 2,298.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kuniyoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mitsukuni Defying The Skeleton Spectre Conjured Up By Princess Takiyasha (Souma No Furudairi Yokai Ga Shadokuro To Tatakau Oya Notarou Mitsukuni) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,848.90).
