Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Utagawa Kunisada could be acquired at Bonhams in November this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Japan-Mania (Online-only) auction, the work A middle-aged samurai making love to a young princess changed hands for GBP 140.80 (€ 163.16) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kunisada achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Edo period (1615-1868), 1857 in March last year with an auction result of USD 47,812.50 (€ 43,101.51).
