Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams held the auction Japan-Mania (Online-only), which included the work An imaginary performance with three actors by Utagawa Kunisada. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 640.00 (€ 741.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kunisada achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Edo period (1615-1868), 1857 in March last year with an auction result of USD 47,812.50 (€ 43,101.51).
