Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,937.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Umberto Ongania - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Decorated gondolas in the Bacino di San Marco, which sold at auction in April 2001 for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,303.89).
