It achieved a price of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,604.57), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Umberto Ongania - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Decorated gondolas in the Bacino di San Marco, which sold at auction in April 2001 for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,303.89).

Die Arbeit Before The Piazzetta, San Marco, Venice von Umberto Ongania wurde im Juni 2006 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art Including Russian Pictures and a Symbolist Collection with a Richard Wagner section bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 1.800,00 (€ 2.604,57) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%.
