Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Chiyu Uemae was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in November 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 1,200,000.00 – 2,200,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 875,000.00 (€ 98,759.16). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chiyu Uemae - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in May 2018 for HKD 2,980,000.00 (€ 325,578.41).
