Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work The Joy Of Reading by Tung Chiao was worth HKD 239,400.00 (€ 25,631.52) to a buyer in April 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Paintings at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 70,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Tung Chiao; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Literati sold at auction in October 2020 with the realized price of HKD 252,000.00 (€ 27,911.05).

Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings bei Sothebys in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 70.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Tung Chiao; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Literati im Oktober 2020 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 252.000,00 (€ 27.911,05).
