In August 2021 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Inkspiration: Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Calligraphy Couplet in Xingshu I by Tung Chiao. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 63,000.00 (€ 6,860.59), 58% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Tung Chiao have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Literati in October 2020 with an auction result of HKD 252,000.00 (€ 27,911.05).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im August 2021 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Inkspiration: Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet in Xingshu I von Tung Chiao zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 63.000,00 (€ 6.860,59) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tung Chiao auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Literati im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 252.000,00 (€ 27.911,05).
