Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Iron and InkPrints and Paintings, featuring Tetsubin from the Crawford Collection, which included the work Unknown by Torii Kiyonaga. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,211.25 (€ 1,187.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Torii Kiyonaga achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ROULEAU DE MANCHE (SODE NO MAKI ) in December 2018 with an auction result of EUR 125,000.00.
