In July last year Sothebys in London held the auction Masters of the Woodblock: Important Japanese Prints, which included the work A party in the Shinagawa Pleasure Quarters by Torii Kiyonaga. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 13,860.00 (€ 16,551.30), 73% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Torii Kiyonaga have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work ROULEAU DE MANCHE (SODE NO MAKI ) in December 2018 with an auction result of EUR 125,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 73 % übertroffen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Masters of the Woodblock: Important Japanese Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit A party in the Shinagawa Pleasure Quarters von Torii Kiyonaga zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 13.860,00 (€ 16.551,30) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Torii Kiyonaga auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ROULEAU DE MANCHE (SODE NO MAKI ) im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 125.000,00.
