Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Second Month (Kisaragi), from the series Furyu juni kiko Fashionable Scenes from the Twelve Months, circa 1779, signed Kiyonaga ga by Torii Kiyonaga was sold in the The Japanese Aesthetic auction at Christies in London in December 2013. It achieved a price of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,104.98), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 17%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Torii Kiyonaga achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ROULEAU DE MANCHE (SODE NO MAKI ) in December 2018 with an auction result of EUR 125,000.00.
