In April 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work The Manhattan Portfolio by Tom Baril. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,463.89) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Tom Baril have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portfolio of 8, 1993-2001 in February 2008 with an auction result of USD 27,400.00 (€ 18,041.75).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im April 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Manhattan Portfolio von Tom Baril zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.463,89) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tom Baril auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portfolio of 8, 1993-2001 im Februar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 27.400,00 (€ 18.041,75).
