Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by To Ngoc Van could be acquired at Christies in Hong Kong in April 2002 for an unexpectedly low price. In the SOUTHEAST ASIAN & 20TH CENTURY INDIAN PICTURES auction, the work La maison pres de la riviere (The house near the river) changed hands for HKD 119,500.00 (€ 17,018.33) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 120,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by To Ngoc Van achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Les Désabusées (Disillusionment) in May 2019 with an auction result of HKD 9,125,000.00 (€ 1,044,353.75).
