Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Campesinos Reading El Machete by Tina Modotti. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 225,000.00 (€ 203,767.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tina Modotti - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Telephone Wires, Mexico, which sold at auction in April 2019 for USD 692,000.00 (€ 617,801.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Campesinos Reading El Machete von Tina Modotti zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 225.000,00 (€ 203.767,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Tina Modotti mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Telephone Wires, Mexico beobachtet, die im April 2019 für USD 692.000,00 (€ 617.801,98) versteigert wurde.
