Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2011 Christies in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists, which included the work Floating Column by Tim Maguire. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,012.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tim Maguire achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled 1997 in November 2003 with an auction result of AUD 329,000.00 (€ 198,469.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Australian Art with Works by 20th Century African Artists durch, in der auch die Arbeit Floating Column von Tim Maguire zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 875,00 (€ 1.012,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Tim Maguire erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled 1997 im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 329.000,00 (€ 198.469,70).
