Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September last year Christies in New York held the auction Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba, which included the work Untitled (Woman with Parrot) by Thota Vaikuntam. Here, the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 6,300.00 (€ 6,439.74). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thota Vaikuntam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Women), which sold at auction in May last year for GBP 20,400.00 (€ 23,998.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Woman with Parrot) von Thota Vaikuntam zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 6.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 6.300,00 (€ 6.439,74) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Thota Vaikuntam mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Women) beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für GBP 20.400,00 (€ 23.998,66) versteigert wurde.
