In September 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art, which included this untitled work by Thota Vaikuntam. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,032.00 (€ 4,445.94), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thota Vaikuntam have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Women) in May last year with an auction result of GBP 20,400.00 (€ 23,998.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 34 % übertroffen
Im September 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Thota Vaikuntam zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.032,00 (€ 4.445,94) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thota Vaikuntam auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Women) im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.400,00 (€ 23.998,66).
