Auction result well in line with expectations
In June this year Bonhams in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art, which included this untitled work by Thota Vaikuntam. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,680.00 (€ 8,938.20) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thota Vaikuntam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Women), which sold at auction in May last year for GBP 20,400.00 (€ 23,998.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Thota Vaikuntam zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 7.680,00 (€ 8.938,20) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Thota Vaikuntam mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Women) beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für GBP 20.400,00 (€ 23.998,66) versteigert wurde.
