Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sunlit Woodland Scene by Worthington Whittredge was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,375.00 (€ 6,759.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Worthington Whittredge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pine Cone Gatherers in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 360,500.00 (€ 340,801.66).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sunlit Woodland Scene von Worthington Whittredge im April 2014 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.375,00 (€ 6.759,19) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Worthington Whittredge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Pine Cone Gatherers im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 360.500,00 (€ 340.801,66).
