In April 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Newport by Worthington Whittredge. The result of USD 15,000.00 (€ 13,438.45) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Worthington Whittredge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pine Cone Gatherers in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 360,500.00 (€ 340,801.66).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im April 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Newport von Worthington Whittredge zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 13.438,45) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Worthington Whittredge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Pine Cone Gatherers im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 360.500,00 (€ 340.801,66).
