THOMAS SCHEIBITZ (B. 1968) The Type signed, titled and dated '"The Type" Scheibitz 06' (on the overlap) oil on canvas 82 x 57 in. (208.3 x 144.8 cm.) Painted in 2006.
Auction result well in line with expectations
In December last year Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work The Type by Thomas Scheibitz. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 20,160.00 (€ 18,844.64) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Scheibitz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Douglas in March 2006 with an auction result of USD 307,200.00 (€ 253,068.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Type von Thomas Scheibitz zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 20.160,00 (€ 18.844,64) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Scheibitz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Douglas im März 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 307.200,00 (€ 253.068,62).
