Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman, facing right in blue coat, white waistcoat and frilled cravat by Thomas Hazlehurst was sold in the Important Gold Boxes, Objects of Vertu and Portrait auction at Christies in London in December 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,075.50 (€ 1,650.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Hazlehurst - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A young boy, facing left in blue coat, white shirt with frilled collar, long curling fair hair, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 3,585.00 (€ 5,614.16).
